Oh holy night! The stars are brightly shining
This is the night of the dear Savior's birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appeared and the souls felt its worth.
A thrill of hope a weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!
Fall on your knees Oh hear the angels voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine, Oh night, Oh night divine
Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts, by His cradle we stand.
And led by light of stars so sweetly gleaming,
There came three wise men from Orient land.
The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials, born to be the King.
He knows our needs, to our weakness he’s no stranger.
Behold your King, before him low, lowly bend.
Behold Your King
before him low, lowly bend
Fall on your knees, oh hear the angels voices.
Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born.
Oh night divine! Oh night- Oh Holy Night.

Additional Verse:
Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.
Words/Lyrics by Chappeau de Roquemaure Translated
by John S. Dwight; Music By Adolphe-Charles Adam 1840-ish. The words to O Holy
Night were written by Placide Clappeau, in 1847. It was translated from French
to English by John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893). Clappeau was a wine merchant and
mayor of Roquemaure, who wrote poems for his own enjoyment. The music was
written by Adolphe-Charles Adam (1803-1856). Adam was born in Paris, France. He
is best known for his ballet Giselle (1841) and his operatic work.
At the time, the carol didn't go over very well; church authorities who
denounced it for lack of musical taste and "total absence of the spirit of
religion." One can only imagine what they would have thought of "All I want for
Christmas is my two front teeth".
My intentions for this site originated by
the fact that my love for music in general was affected by a handsome stranger
who took the microphone one Christmas Eve at a Karaoke Night at the Hale Koa. He
picked up the microphone, pushed the music aside, and sang (A ccapella) the most
moving rendition of "Oh Holy Night" I had ever heard. To this day I am still
moved each time I hear it. My personal thrill is to now have this beautiful
Christmas Carol on Danny's first Christmas CD. When hearing another artist sing it, my thoughts go
to how much more beautiful it is when Danny sings it! Going to Hawaii during the
Holidays is not complete without hearing Danny sing this song at least once! A
voice had never moved me like that before, nor has it had the impact of this
musical introduction.
Who is this singer with that powerful voice? I had never appreciated, or really
listened to the music of the islands until I heard and met Danny. Thus the
beginning of a special friendship, of this Fan Appreciation Site and my
continuous love for this man's "golden voice" and god given talent.
