NOTICE:
It has been brought to my
attention that continuous private emails of a slanderous variety
have continued to be sent to private individuals
and
professional Hawaiian music artists in the last few months, badmouthing and
defaming/slandering both myself and my privately owned website. Due to the
un-professional behavior of his public posting and the emailing of
negative comments and ridicule via numerous websites online, plus emails
to individuals, instead of choosing contact by personal email to rectify
personal conflict. Email Harassment
I am listing items of
concern and writing my rebuttal
here on my own website. Wouldn't you think a public figure would choose
something above this type of behavior? And above all desist! Or does the
little person automatically lose out? The one without their own Radio
Station, listener bank. While you read this page please remember.. This
could happen to anyone/any listener!
Posted for those of you who don't frequent Joe's website or
read his "BLOG" this was brought to our attention:
3-15-07 For the information of viewers and frequenters of both
websites, I was granted many times in the past to feature clips, photos

Joe, This situation is personal and does not affect you! and happened
due to someone else getting into my Frappr site and posting on an
unsolicited site. It has been removed! You can thank your other friend
for this as payback for her site being removed by the admin of Frappr. I
would suggest you mind your own business, as this has already been taken
care of thru the proper sources including Danny and His

I don’t
appreciate you forwarding this type of mail to others,
How totally unprofessional of you! Thankyou.

Hi Lea, Thanks for writing in regarding this matter. We will remove the

as how you had made the individual in question one of your friends

To Joe, as for
reposting what you sent to other professionals, YES I have a right to
post a rebuttal. Your comments are posted on my website and I
have retracted any and all connection with you, someone who would act in
this manner towards a devoted listener of NINE years. How dare you
slander someone publicly with drummed up accusations!
Recently there has
been yet another feature on Aloha Joe Magazine talking about Danny's
interview and about his Song: "These Islands" I welcome you to come to our
pages that have had this information featured for several years given to
us directly by Danny during our interviews and discussions. Introduction and

Warning Catharsis
This article reflects my personal
opinion, and is not that of Mr. Danny Couch or others! I
detest being targeted as someone doing wrong when all that has come from our
site is good! If you have any questions feel free to ask and all
can be proven in writing. Suppose
you spend several thousand $ to travel and support something you love, and get
treated as if you had leprosy. Is that Aloha?
How about having to furnish your own
(1) photo to be posted on site, as proof of having attended-paid for five days of
functions? Aloha? Or formally welcomed with "What are you doing here? This
is for those that support AJ" Aloha? "When did you sneak in?"
and then blatantly ignored the remainder of the week. Aloha?
(Not the Aloha I know and welcome)
Or hearing back the lies, rumors and negative
comments being said to Musicians you work closely with? Hearing that
artists are threatened if associated with DCF.
Finally after
supporting a site for almost 9 years with numerous photos, articles, many many
links and updates, being told that whenever the AJ name is
used to insure that a
" ® " trademark be inserted
at all mention of his name, (no other site was forced to
have this formality) and finally asked to supply photos and in return receive a
solitary reciprocal link
only to have it removed without notice, mention or reason. Then Replaced with yet
another in house supported FAN site link, with flashing banner ads as well
as replacing the solitary link imbedded in a hard to find page... Aloha? That's what I say... "Aloha"
Thus the reason it's taken me
so long to adjust this page.
Total Disbelief! from a former
advocate and once a huge supporter of Aloha Joe
Unfortunately
due to circumstances I felt it necessary to remove Aloha Joe's Interview
and all 20+ Links posted and supported here since 2000
(This
should not reflect on Danny's personal/professional connection with AJ as
it does not connect to Danny what so ever, this is a private situation
which should be made public)

Hawaii Music Awards Week
Please note: Many of the functions which were open to all music fans last year
are now listed as
<by Invitation Only>
THOSE EVENTS LISTED BY
INVITE ONLY
are Functions which were originally used to help promote Hawaiian
music by allowing the listening public to listen and vote for the
"Winners of the People's Choice Awards who are determined by
online voting from a public audience around the world." Anyone with an internet
connection may cast a vote
sadly now however, as
stated online,
"Hawaii Music Award's Week" is being limited in access to music fans
by invite only, who otherwise would
like to attend? Although Tickets are sold to these events thus taking
into consideration reservations for accounting purposes such as food and size of
venue, it is also stated <by invitation> in addition to these purchases???
The question being asked
is why isn't it stated <by reservation only> or <room only> with attending host
at the door? From what was witnessed last year, over attendance was sadly not an
issue.

October 8th, 2006 Spoke to Johnnie Kai of the
Music Foundation of Hawaii |
|
|
I have recently spoke to Johnnie Kai, President
of HMA about the concerns on the wording used in advertising the
coming Awards in March. I have been receiving from over 80+ emails
sent to me.
Lea I wanted to check with you to see if you were
aware of the number of people confused with the wording about some of
the events at the HMAs
Johnny Kai:
Not sure but I have not recieved a single inquiry
Lea: I'm amazed, I have, many
Lea: and I've referred them to you
Johnny Kai: Nope haven't recieved one
request
Johnny Kai: I have received several
ticket package buyers for all four days though
Lea: well then sorry I bothered you
Johnny Kai: what is the confusion perhaps
I can help clarify the issue
Lea: fans are asking how they get invited
to the functions saying by invite only
Lea: the wording is confusing them and
turning them off, they have been asking a lot of questions.
Johnny Kai: It's easy. They just have to
purchase the special ticket packages and they will have invitation to
the limited seating for the Nominees Party. (which was not posted on
the site.)
Lea: it's not just the Nominee Party that
states by invite only. And nowhere does it state what you just
mentioned
Johnny Kai: The Nominees Party is just
that, a special party for nominees to thank them for their
participation. The Music Foundation of Hawaii is paying for the cost
of the nominees pupu buffet as way to show appreciation.
Lea: so for those who have never
attended, and some who have believed they have to be invited to attend
they are supposed to know this when signing up?
Johnny Kai: I'm sorry but I am confused
by your interpretation of our events
Johnny Kai: Could you explain it in
detail so I can be sure not to misunderstand what you are implying?
Lea:
most of the events state
By Invitation and the general public do not understand how to be
invited.
Lea: some people are claiming they won't
sign up since they have not been invited.. does that make sence? Thus
the confusion, it sounds to them like a closed function!
Johnny Kai: Not true, the only event that
states "invitation only" is the Nominees Party. It's clearly stated
and posted under "Events"
Lea: There are three functions
which do not have By Invitation written and some believe those are the
only functions they can attend, that are open to anyone without
invitation. I've received over 80 emails about this so far since your
site went up to the public
Johnny Kai: That's right the 3 events
that doesn't state "By invitation Only" have ticketed prices and
clearly implies anyone can attend. But if they purchase a Full Package
of all four events they are priviliged to attend the Nominees party as
a bonus.
Lea: Is that written on the site now? it
wasn't
Johnny Kai: Simply stated and clearly
defined on our website and everyone of the already paid ticket buyers
we dealt with have no problem understanding the instructions. All 100%
of them are in full compliance and eagerly anticipating the events.
Lea: and what about ALL of the private
Aloha Joe functions also listed as By Invitation? Those are listed in
the same place in the same manner?
Johnny Kai: The Aloha Joe
Waikiki Club party is not an official function of the Music Foundation
of Hawaii but instead an added event we are advertising
for Aloha Joe inkind trade for his moneytary and marketing support of
the March events. Like many of our sponsors in Hawaii including COX
Radio people to include Alan Yamamoto, president of HARA, we are
offering advertising spots and trade in our various publication and
televised events.
Johnny Kai: In the near future you will
see a ton of new sponsors and companies advertised on our website as
inkind trade or moneytary donations to the foundation in support of
music in the schools being promoted in various amounts and forms
according to our agreements with each sponsor.
Lea: from what I get from the
communication I'm receiving is fans in general were turned off by the
words By Invitation. Perhaps the reason you haven't received any
questions is that they don't care to persue and further. I wanted to
bring this to your attention so as not to limit your number of people
who are caring to participate, and let you know of a potential
problem. By having the AJ functions listed along side your project
functions, looks as if they are part of your project it is reflecting
on the HMA.. Even I although having been there last year am somewhat
confused, I didn't realize the two were separate entities either!
Lea: It sounds like you as a professional
have a great strategy going, as a lay person I wanted to bring this to
your attention is all.. Thank you for your time Johnny and I hope your
project is a great success. A hui hou.. Always Lea
Johnny Kai: Mahalo Lea, I do want to try
my best to help your fans to want to understand how to be a part of
the program. Take care,
Johnny Kai
In retrospect: I am asking that All Fans

I
Love Hawaii The Journey was added to Joes
rotation list early Tuesday morning. Danny happened to be listening and
heard Joe's first play and CALLED HIM If you missed the Live broadcast
here are the clips (as we have done in the past) of Joe and Danny talking about
the new CD and his Kona Show.
Danny Couch was voted
once again the Most Requested Artist on ALOHA JOE, the fourth year in a
row!
In 2000, Aloha Joe presented Danny with his Hoku for Single of the Year
for the song, THESE ISLANDS on his stage at that time, the Hale Koa Luau. Danny
missed receiving his award at the actual HOKU AWARDS, and Joe stepped in
to claim it and present it to him. Photo of Danny receiving his Hoku
furnished by the Baileys.

Older News but
worth your time...
Friday October 17
Danny was on Aloha Joe's Radio
Show. Danny called Joe from an Internet Cafe downtown, when he
happened to check out Joes site
and "Kuuipo" was playing. Danny decided to surprise him last evening and
called Joe to thank him for playing it. Joe immediately put Danny on-the-air
live and had a great conversation about Joe's program, Danny's rating as
being "most requested artist" week after week, and it always being "Kuuipo"
and "These Islands" that is requested. Some other things were discussed also
but you'll just have to listen and check back here to
Fanaddicts to see what it is. |

Aloha Joe wrote to me saying..
"It was a REAL SURPRISE....first, he was listening to
our station in Hawaii....
I played his song Ku'uipo.. and he decided to call to say ALOHA.. and Mahalo....
I put him on the air and we had a grand time talking about the LU'AU SHOW
and stuff....
He told the story of making the duet with his daughter..and how he was going
to give the song to Don Ho for Don to do a duet with Hoku...but after
hearing what he had.. he told Don..
"SORRY - BUT"....
It was very nice to speak with him.. and I closed by playing the DUET....
I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You.
That's about it... I didn't record it as I was too shocked to think
straight....:::)))"
~From Danny
"That was nice, I was showing
some friends how to get to your site, then how to get to Joe`s site, and
there was Kuuipo. That's the first time I heard it on air. So I called to
thank him ..what a shock... But so nice of him to put me on the air... Talk
to you soon." Danny
